Great screen shots! I am continually impressed by the color the MKII delivers; simply stunning. What have you done to overcome the audio limitations of the camera?
I’m guessing you probably went with dual-system audio, and if so, what kind of mic/recorder setup did you use, and did you use any kind of software to sync up the audio with the video in post? Sorry about all the questions – I’m just exploring the possibility of shooting with a dSLR in the future and am trying to figure out what would be the best workflow.
Thanks!
The shot with you in it isn’t anything to boast about, but the other screenshots (sans the one with John) look amazing!
Oh, and this movie http://www.sybilludingtonmovie.com/ is the first feature film to be shot on the Mark II.
Oh, and I shot this at the Filmmaker’s Academy in January with Nathaniel Bluedorn’s Mark II and his really nice telephoto lens. http://vimeo.com/3780269 No grading, and bad compression and shake, but I do like the camera.
Thanks for posting this! I’ve been seriously considering replacing my slr and video cameras for the 5d Mark II and your post pretty much confirms it. Thank you.
What did you use for audio? Did you use an external recorder? Or the 5d with a DXA-5D?
Great! Thanks for posting the update! After doing a bit of research on using audio with the 5D, I found the Juicedlink CX231 which allows sound to be recorded in the camera with very impressive quality, even better than mid-grade portable audio recorders.
I just watched the film the other night. Very nice. I found it depressing, and also challenging.
My only criticism is that it felt like the final stretch (exporting, DVD and distribution end) was a bit rushed. Was this the case?
I’ve had a lot of fun with my 5D. I recently got the Zacuto DSLR Eyepiece and it’s made this camera twice as fun. Here’s something I shot a week ago:

Isaac, I wish I knew how to do all your After Effects magic.
